Creating a Dance Video during COVID-19

MBDT has been working on a dance video exploring grief during COVID-19. The loss of lives to this virus has seemed like an unacknowledged backdrop of American culture. As a country we are so busy trying not to fall apart that we may be overlooking the gravity of all of these sudden deaths. The disruption and instability of our country has kept us from grieving completely. MBDT is developing a new dance video piece that recognizes the loss of lives we continue to experience. This works-in-progress has been challenging to create in both its content and its design elements. A main question we are asking ourselves: How do we produce a dance that is both tasteful and relevant to address what feels like a hidden cultural sorrow?
