Jump Start into Spring 2021
MBDT is excited to announce exciting opportunities for this Spring of 2021. After a year of coping with and adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic, jubilant new experiences have inspired us. Megan Boyd received the Jump Start Award from the Connecticut Dance Alliance to help support the beginning of the MBDT dance company. This important recognition will help start-up both virtual and live performance events in 2021. (Republican-American article)
This March 27, 2021, we were happy to join a roster of amazing dance artists at the University of Saint Joseph's 5x5 Virtual Dance Festival. We shared our video piece Partial Perspectives as part of an hour-long dance showcase that presented collegiate and professional groups from the Connecticut dance community. Following the event was a Zoom meeting with a vibrant talkback panel between the artists and the showcase's artistic director Susan Murphy. The discussion produced a sense of hope for the next few years to come as our performing arts community works to revive its live performance venues.
MBDT would like to welcome its newest member Erin Mahoney to the dance group. Erin joined MBDT's virtual dance rehearsals in March of 2021. Starting in April, we look forward to returning to the South Britain Congregational Church to continue the work we've been doing in safe, socially distanced live rehearsals.
Last November of 2020, MBDT conducted a film shoot of new choreography with four dancers in Newtown, Connecticut. This dance video work is now in its post-production phase of small edits, color corrections, and audio design. We look forward to sharing this new video piece very soon.
